Recognizing Vegan Momma’s Readers Through RSS Feed

Posted on August 30th, 2007 in In The News, Personal, RSS Feed Spotlight, Vegan Momma Shout Out by Vegan Momma

When it comes to online communication I’m always looking for new ways to meet others. I also enjoy letting my readers know who’s gotten my attention. I try to introduce my readers to fabulous bloggers on a consistent basis. I wish I could do it more. This past weekend I thought of additional ways that I could point out fabulous bloggers to my readers. A simple, but effective way is to include them in my Widget RSS Feed.

RssFeed

Where Is It Located?
My RSS Feed is currently sitting in left hand corner directly below Vivid Seats. I have been testing it out for the past few weeks in different locations and I’ve found this to be a prime location and receives the most clicks. My testing is over so I’m handing the spotlight to my readers. It’s a way that I can continually promote someone’s website.

Guess what? Anyone can subscribe to their feed simply by clicking on the orange icon that’s located within the feed. Clicking on a topic within the feed will take you directly to their website. Pretty cool, eh? I love WordPress there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of cool Word Press Plug Ins!

The Idea
Each week I’ll have one readers’ website featured in my RSS feed. It will show the bloggers last four posts. Throughout the week within my regular posts, I’ll regularly refer to a post they’ve created and as I do with any posts that I find fascinating I’ll Digg and Stumble it. The only difference is this time I’ll ask my readers to Digg and Stumble the article if they like it.

Initially my focus will be on the bloggers who have great content but don’t have a high amount of readers. It can take time to build a strong readership and, at times, we all need some support.

Upcoming Feeds

1. Sassy of The Sassy Southerner
I love Sassy’s down home style and visit her often. Her website revolves around things that are going on in her daily life. She regularly writes about her children and recently wrote about the loss of their dog check out her post RIP Honey Bunny.

2. Mike Goad of Exit 78
I’ve blogged about Mike before, and I truly love visiting his virtual spot. He’s currently traveling with his wife so I thought I would point you to his travel category so you can see the beautiful photos on Mike Goad’s travel journal.

3. Cheryl of Hawaiian Vacation Gifts
Cheryl and her husband are artist who live in Hawaii. I enjoy catching up on what’s going in her world through her well thought out posts. Check out her post titled Want To Be More Green But Need More Help?

4. Megan Bayliss of Imaginif
Megan, and the fabulous team that makes up Imaginif are passionate about children and I believe that is all they write about. It’s nice to stop by and visit a kid friendly place. Check out all the fabulous articles (it will take you a while) that can help keep our children safe.

Check out her post titled Children Learn The Cycle Of Violence From Our Parenting. I encountered this quite often as a mentor. How do we break that cycle? I see you have moved your blog to WordPress, Megan! welcome to the WP family. It looks great.

5. Thomas - Technical Blogger
Thomas is my favorite Microsoft guy, and I always enjoy popping by his place. I’m always impressed with the quality of his post. If you stop by his place, you won’t be getting an appetizer you’ll receive a full course meal. As with everyone else on my list he writes posts that make you think. Please read his post titled 10 Tips For Increasing The Comments On Your Blog.

6. MacBro’s of MacBro’s Reviews
MacBro’s started this website a few months ago. I really enjoy reading his reviews and was very interested in his review of The Last Legion. Although I’ve never heard of the movie before (not surprising since I rarely watch television) I think I’ll be adding this to my Netflix queue.

What Do These Bloggers Have In Common?
They regularly comment or contribute to conversation around the blogosphere, for me, that’s very important so I definitely like recognizing others that see the significance of doing this. They are good neighbors!

Often, I come back to a website to find out if the writer has contributed to the comment conversation. Those that I’m focusing on do contribute. What’s impressive is that many respond within 24 hours.

Yes these articles have been (or will be Stumbled and Dugg today!)

Where Did I Get The Idea?
I noticed that Sharon of The Diva Network had this feature and I thought it was a fabulous way to recognize others. Thanks for the inspiration Sharon!

When Does It Start?
It starts this coming Monday. You’re feed will be my RSS Feed Spotlight for seven days.

Who Goes First?
I’ll let that be a surprise.

In Other News…
I haven’t been doing as much visiting, commenting, or posting on any of my blogs. It’s been busy in the Tribble household. My workload is light so most of my days are spent rearranging the house, picking vegetables in the garden, freezing vegetables in preparation for the upcoming cold season. It doesn’t give me much time on the computer. I should be back to normal this weekend.
