I’ve heard that one a lot. A very inaccurate assumption. I wrote about this in Fear of a Loc’d Planet. My loc’s are starting to grow longer. I rarely pay attention to my hair but now and again I look and think, “Wow, I love my loc’s!” They are creeping down my back now. This December will mark one year that I’ve worn my natural hair in loc’s. They aren’t cultivated my locs are freeform locs. I also hear “You must love reggae!” and “So are you rasta now?” Although I know a lot about the Rastafari movement, I’m not a rasta. It’s true I do love reggae. I started listening to it early thanks to my father. Bob Marley was someone he listened to not only for his music but the powerful messages that were weaved throughout his lyrics. Since I respect my father, I started to be attentive to what Bob Marley was saying.
