Vacation: What are the odds?
Sunday was my last day in Maryland before my daughter, and I headed out for a relaxing week of fun in the South Carolina sun. I made plans to complete five articles during the day; however, the unexpected happen. The phone line went dead at my house this has happened a few times before problem is the technician would not be able to get out to the house until July 2, 2008. Great!
Currently we are here in south Carolina the condo where the reside has spotty internet connection; however, I found a location about a mile away where I can follow up with my clients, editors to let them know what’s up.
I guess that is one of the downsides of having your own business and freelancing at times you cannot completely take a break when you are on vacation, but you know what I’ll take it. I still prefer working for myself. The past few days have been lazy but my daughter and I have been having a blast at the waterfront condo we plan to dive into the pool tomorrow.
Question: For those living in the U.S. do you have any plans for the upcoming holiday?

Everybody needs a bit of ME time now and again.
It’s Canada Day today, I’m planning on heading out here soon to see what’s going on at the block party and then video the fireworks. You should see the people on my web cams.

OH. If you go to the cam page Opal, there are links. Click the Officers Square and the SJ River links to see the cams there.

I’m staying home and doing nothing…except work on freelance gigs. It’s a good thing though, because my wife and I are seriously taking steps to ditching the traditional employer/employee thing and doing it ourselves. Soon, but not sure when. I do know that it will come.

I am heading down to Ocean City, MD for the weekend. This is my second time down there this year, but hopefully this time the water will be much warmer.

Opal, I hope you are having a fantastic time.
I can totally relate to that. Even when my husband and I took a much deserved break in June, the first thing we did when we hit Disneyland was to find out where the nearest hotspot was so that we could take five minutes here and there. Can you imagine? I was writing an article in my head while I was lining up for the Peter Pan ride…..
:)
Can’t wait until I go to our 12 day vacation next year to Hawaii.. How we’ll pull it off, I don’t know.

Aw, I hope you get the internet services to cooperate soon! I’ll be spending the 4th with family and friends and watch the local fireworks. It will be great fun!
Happy 4th, Opal!

We’re going to have an “ad hoc” four day weekend — which means we’re going to make it up as we go through the weekend; i.e., no specific plans. We’ll probably take at least one road trip to somewhere within a couple of hours of here. But, then again, maybe not.

I am seriously considering getting a wireless USB modem for my laptop so I have back-up internet access whenever my home connection goes down. When you are making a living off of the internet, your internet connection becomes your lifeline!

I think vacations are something that everyone looks forward too and some of them will go to any extent to make them happen. Nice post. Keep posting.

I didn’t go anywhere for the 4th of July, though I do live in San Diego, which, I suppose, IS like a vacation. Well, Minus the traffic and housing costs. Man, I used a lot of commas!
