Three years blogging on Vegan Momma

Posted on February 18th, 2008 in In The News by Vegan Momma

“Know when you’re finished, and when you are, put your pencil or your paintbrush down. All the rest is only life.”

Those were the last two sentences from a book I read yesterday. As I closed the book it felt like I was saying goodbye to an old friend. I guess in some ways I was. Normally it doesn’t take me along to read a book. The book was 611 pages. I usually finish that in a night however it took me a few weeks to complete I’ve been that busy. Thinking about the book I thought those last two sentences was an appropriate ending.

Throughout life, I have made similar statements they haven’t always been easy to make. I’ve been blogging on Vegan Momma for three years. I made my first post on 02/05/05. The last several months have passed by in a blur. I definitely haven’t been as active as I used to be. I guess you could say I’m suffering from blog burnout. Switching my focus and writing on other blogs have helped. It has given me a chance to step back and think of the direction I want to go with this website.

Guess what? I’m still thinking. Honestly at the moment it’s not top on my list of things to do. My business life is in order, and now I’m trying to get my personal life in order and this website is definitely on my “personal list. I imagine many of us have been there trying to separate the things we cannot live without from the things that can be tossed to the side and at times they are picked up at a later time in our life.

I completely forgot that today was a holiday. Regardless of the day, you can usually find me doing some type of work. That is ok I enjoy working for myself. On this day, after my early morning workout which was unusually crowded because people were off, I found myself outside. It was 70 here in Maryland, and I wanted to make the most of the occasion. Aiyana was happy and we spent several hours playing outside. Naturally, I took breaks to do the important things like work.

As I ready another forty definition pages for VitaminStuff, I have to say I know exactly what you’re talking about, all of it.

Congratulations on the first three years for Vegan Momma! And good luck on the next three.

I put up my first website in 2003 (or was it 2002…I haven’t the foggiest), but I didn’t start blogging until 9/27/05. And I was very reluctant to start at all, sort of the way I feel about social media right now.

Three years! Well congratulations to you. As for something to blog about, how about a really good, tried and trusted recipe for Shepherdess pie, or is that too selfish a request?

Before you say anything I already did a search of your blog [yesterday?] to see if you had one.
    Cheers

Wow three years! That’s long…Anyway, congrast for the three years have been past. I read several times that sometimes people get bored with blogging…I’m wondering how do you overcome that feeling during the three years?

Order and priorities are the hardest thing for me to obtain, especially in my personal life.

I am glad I found your blog and although I have not been here for all the 3 years it has been great seeing your online world change and grow and I have been learning so much from you.

Thanks for everything, you make the online world a better place.

Congrats on the 3 years! I am sure there were days you weren’t sure what to post about, but overall the time probably flew by.

I am also experiencing a blog burntout and I guess it is also because of the current situation i am in and the matching homesickness.

Anyway congrats for blogging in three years!

3 years? Wow, that is a milestone!

Other than my family, I’m not sure that I’ve ever
stuck to anything for 3 years.

It is easy to burn out blogging. Know how ya feel there.
