Something About Amanda

I love you more than bunnies mommy! That’s what Amazing Amanda said to my daughter a few weeks ago. Amazing Amanda says a lot of nauseatingly sweet statements like that. My daughter gets a kick out of them.

You have to program Amanda. In our household Amanda wakes up at 8:00 a.m. and goes to bed at 9:00 p.m. I wish my daughter did that. Amanda also takes naps throughout the day. One time Amazing Amanda awoke from her nap and said, “Mommy” (referring to my daughter) I had a dream that I was a bunny and you were a carrot. She started giggling. Amanda didn’t finish that statement. It left us hanging and me thinking, Wha…?. Hmm, so is was she going to eat her? ;-)

I’ve always been fascinated with interactive dolls. For some odd reason I’ve been fascinated with the cheesy movies, and books, that involve interactive dolls. I watched Chucky, Puppet Master, and too many very bad movies that featured interactive dolls. Amanda hasn’t had that dream again. Then again my daughter rarely plays with her.

Her big sister, Amazing Allyson, dreams of electric sheep.

At time Amazing Amanda does seem realistic with the expressions she makes. If I wake up with her peering down at me, I guess I’ll know that I’ve surely crossed over to the dark side, and she’s the hunter, and I’m her prey. ;-)

Does Amanda creep me out? No, but some of her facial expressions, and some of the comments she makes, when you have a conversation with her are extremely realistic. This is only the beginning. I cannot even imagine how advanced interactive toys will be within the next few years.
