Fitness Update: Training The Mind, Body, & Spirit

Posted on January 15th, 2008 in Exercise by Vegan Momma

What did I exercise today? Hmm, let’s see it was back, biceps, and of course my favorite abdominal. Regardless of, how busy I become I make sure I receive exercise. It’s not an option it’s a requirement. I rarely look at myself, but today I caught a glimpse as I was passing by one of the numerous mirrors in Bally’s yes I can definitely tell that my work has paid off.

Currently I’m at 13% body fat. In the next few months, I’ll start looking for Figure competitions. I’ll go to a few and check out my competition. Hopefully I’ll be able connect with another Figure competitor locally that is also competing. I’ve connected with a few online, but I would like to meet someone in person.

I incorporated interval training within my workouts today.  Also I drank only liquids. Even though my meals were liquid my nutritional needs were met. I used a wide range of fruits and vegetables in my raw juices and smoothies. I feel great and have even more energy now than before. My diet has been mainly raw foods the past few months. I was 100% raw for over a year. It was hard to believe that I felt better than I normally did but switching to 100% raw I did.

Since I upped my intake of raw foods again I’m seeing noticeable benefits both physically and mentally. I’ll write about that in another post. Normally I eat about 80% raw foods but the past few months its been between 90% - 100%. It’s the type of raw foods I’m eating that makes the difference. As with any other diet you can be unhealthy eating raw foods if you eat the wrong things.

There’s so many things we can accomplish if only we changed our mindset. We are indeed our own worst enemy. Realizing the powerful connection between my mind, body, and spirit I make sure they all receive a workout. Constantly surrounding myself with negativity or thinking thoughts about myself or anyone else for that matter hurts me.

I let those feelings go and fill my mind with positive thoughts. I dislike negativity I don’t have time for that in my life. I refuse to be around people that drag me down with their unhealthy thoughts. It’s toxic and can wear you down. I also dislike hearing people talk badly about themselves although they might not realize it. Those feelings are hurting them and potentially those who are around them. I correct them and tell them they are good and to stop thinking about themselves in a negative way. I really don’t like seeing people tear themselves apart.

If you keep telling yourself you cannot do something your correct you most likely won’t be able to. Your mind is powerful it can work for you or against you. I choose to have it work with me. The amazing thing is once you conquer your own fears it’s easy to get past those unhealthy feelings that keep most of us from reaching our full potential. I think of them as test thinking rationally I’m able to move past most obstacles that stand in my way if I cannot do it on my own then I might need assistance, but it can be done. Realizing that I can do almost anything I set my mind to has helped me accomplish many things.

Yes physical workout is part of my daily lifestyle but equally important is my mental and spiritual health.

Thoughts: Think about the obstacles that stand or have stood in your way. How will or how did you move past them?
