Christmas Shopping Is Over - Amazing Amanda Has Been Ordered

Posted on December 17th, 2007 in Family, My little Angel by Vegan Momma

Christmas Tree I finally ordered Amazing Amanda for Aiyana.  I had originally planned on buying it through Amazon would buy it however since I waited so long to place my order they could not promise that it would arrive here before Christmas. A few months ago I asked Aiyana if I were to buy the doll which one would she choose. She chose the Caucasian doll.  Aiyana already has a variety of dolls representing many nationalities, including a multiracial doll, which looks similar to her. I’m glad she’s not stuck on dolls that look like her.

I like seeing diversity in her dolls. She doesn’t play with dolls a lot. My daughter is homeschooled we spend a lot of time talking about different ethnic groups and although we might be different in some ways in many ways we are very similar.

eToys premium shipping discount

Actually Amazon could have shipped Amazing Amanda but it would have cost me an additional $30+ more. I don’t think so! I went directly to the manufacturer’s website, eToys, to see If they could get me a better rate on shipment and Amazing Amanda. Guess what, they did. They also have a discount on their premium shipping. I received 33% the usual price. I’m paying a little over $12 for premium shipment. That’s much better than $30+ for expedited shipment that Amazon was offering. As much as I love Amazon I ordered directly from the manufacturer.

Amazing Amanda will be making an appearance by December 20th. How in the world am I going to distract Aiyana when that package arrives? I’ll think of something.

Christmas shopping for me is officially over before it even really began. It’s the only gift I’ve bought! Everyone else is getting something that I’ve made (jewelry, skin care products, article of clothing.) Actually my family/friends prefer those gifts more than anything I’ve ever bought for them. I do put a lot of time into the gifts that I create.

Question: If you celebrate the holiday have you completed your shopping?

I am very happy for you that you didn’t have to get out there and do all kinds of shopping. Hand made items are so nice to receive! But now that you are done I hope you get some time to relax and enjoy the season!

I haven’t commented in awhile (but I read near daily!).

I hope that Aiyana loves her new doll — I’m sure she will. What amused me was her desire to have the Caucasian doll. When I was little, I requested the African American dolls (I’m Caucasian!). I am sure we got some odd looks in public, but I didn’t care!

Be proud of your little Aiyana — so young and still so aware of the cultures around her! Isn’t amazing watching her grow? You are one great mommy.

    Have a very Merry Christmas!

My kitty is sitting beside me purring and howling, so she says “hello!” too. To you as well as your furry children.

Yes, all of my shopping is done!

Unfortunately, I do not share your passion for Amazon. I’ve found their timeliness in shipping to be eratic at best. I much prefer Barnes & Noble…

All my shopping is done but I do still have boatloads of stuff to finish making and I have some custom orders that were placed though me that I still need to get in the mail for customers.

All in all I am done though. Good for you for hand making your gifts!

Nice to hear your package will arrive well before X-mas so you don’t have to worry about it..distracting her might be hard . I think it’s a great idea to have multiple nationality dolls…don’t want children growing up thinking one thing is the norm or the way it should be. Happy holidays to you as well, and the gifts made for me our my favorite as well.

I am still waiting for the last gift to arrive, it’s the biggest and most expensive of the lot so I can see myself buying another expensive gift in ‘reserve’ . (then the original will probably arrive the day after!)

We have a tradition in our family that each year we draw a siblings name and make them their Christmas gift. It is a lot of fun and I have to agree with you homemade gifts are just more memorable. Good luck with the ones you are making.

I’m still not done my shopping, and I only have to shop for 1 person. (my wife)

I glad to see that your daughter likes a variety of ethnicity in her doll choices. It’s amazing how accepting little kids are with things like that.

My youngest has a pretty diverse collection as well. She abuses all of them equally too.!!

i.e. throws them around, draws on them and keeps them all unclothed.
