Seven Things You Don’t Know But I Do

Posted on November 14th, 2007 in My Virtual Buddies, Personal by Vegan Momma

I saw this meme over at Pete’s Digital Photography home. Please stop by and check out the amazing pictures he takes with his GPS Camera phone. I thought it was a great meme so I decided that I would participate.

  1. I Love Body Modifications. Shocked? Don’t be. My fascination began when I was around eight years old and has continued to this present day of course being an avid reader I found that even in the Victorian age people had piercings. In the 1890’s women wore piercings they were called “Bosom Rings”. Roman centurions pierced their nipples to display potency and vigor. Gladiators, were treated as slaves, and they were pierced also. Do you even want to know where? ;-)About ten years ago I purchased the book Modern Primitives. I loved the book. I loaned it to a friend apparently they loved it also. I never received that book back.I had five body piercings. All I’ll say is they lined up with the chakra points. I still have one (navel.) I removed the other four during pregnancy. I didn’t want to. I still have my body jewelry. I most likely will get everything repierced and no none of my piercings were visible. I got mine done in the early 1990’s.
  2. I’m extremely direct. I expect people to be the same with me. If I’ve done something that is bothering you please tell me about it otherwise I have no idea how to fix it. Please don’t talk about me behind my back. If I find out about it you’ve lost my respect. I’m also very perceptive.
  3. I’m very competitive. If you challenge me to something, I will take you seriously, and I’ll do my best. Hopefully I’ll beat you. Regardless I’ll have a great time and I’ll thank you for the challenge. ;-)
  4. Yes I really am that busy. I don’t say it to blow people off I’m just one busy woman. I’m a business owner, mom, student, volunteer. Trust me I am busy. I’m living life to it’s fullest. I do my best to follow up with people if I forget remind me. I won’t be offended. :-)
  5. I actually have a social life. Yes, it’s true! I might not blog about it because well in some areas I’m actually a very private person. That is one of them.
  6. Regarding a partner besides the intelligence, compassion, and all around great person I’m attracted to someone that in excellent shape. Most of the activities I’m involved with require a high level of endurance. I want someone that will join me not sit on the sidelines. That being said the last person I dated was overweight by at least twenty pounds. I loved them for whom they were as a person. They eventually lost that weight, but I never pushed however, I was always there to support them because they did want to make healthier changes in their life. They did. They’re not vegetarian, but they consume fewer animals when I first met them they said they would never be eating more fruits and veggies. They eat a lot of fewer animals and more fruits and vegetables.

I didn’t preach I did lead by example. They saw the difference in our energy levels. They were already active before, but the changes they’ve seen with simple changes in their diet has been amazing to them. I’m proud of my buddy.

You don’t have to be vegetarianto be healthy, you can be an unhealthy vegetarian, however you need to make healthy choices despite your eating lifestyle. Many of the unhealthy choices people make eventually catch up with them as they become older check out the health statistics. You can be old without health problems. Guess what health problems effect younger people also. Take care of yourself! If you make wise choices now you more than likely will have less problems as you age.

  7. I’ve worked as a physical trainer. Occasionally I still do. I’m a tough but am extremely supportive. I’ll be your #1 cheerleader but you will have to meet me halfway and show me that you want to make changes in your lifestyle. Talk is cheap. I want to see action.

Alright those are my seven things. I’m going to tag a few people.

  1. De’Moments - Chi Nee’ is an awesome woman and extremely creative. She is a friendly and makes all her visitors feel welcome.
  2. JO-N at Shower Your Children With Love - an inspirational blogger. I met her through De’Moments. She is always dropping positive thoughts at her virtual home.
  3. Sibbia of Seeing Is Believing; Believing is Achieving - Another positive soul. Her posts are thought provoking. I truly enjoy stopping by her virtual home.

One thing these bloggers have in common is their are nice people and their personality shines through in their posts. I truly enjoy my visits.

Golly! Well I can see that you’re not someone to be messed with. Actually my mum is a very forthright person too, which has the advantage that whilst she can sometimes come across as a little blunt, at least I always know where I stand.
    Cheers

    Kaylee,
Thanks! It was a fun exercise.

    Hadias,
I’ll be by again. I didn’t have time to comment last evening but I’ll be back. You’ve been added to my RSS feed.

    maddy,
I am tactful, lol. I do think of other person but I’ll tell them how I feel on an issue.

    pelf,
I’ll have to check her out. I’ve never gotten tattoes but I’ve seen some that were very beautiful.

    MacBros,
Well I did say I dated someone who wasn’t right? I have no problem being with someone who is willing to make changes in their health. I think many of us can improve on that.

    Thomas,
I loved that book. I’m ordering it again. I think you mentioned you had a few. :-)

You have a social life?! No, Opal, your social life is with us. We need you. There is no escape from the blog!

Thanks for the mention, I’m glad to see more of who you are. I love body mods too - on other people! They’re cool to look at but not really for me. I did commit to a tattoo, however, in the possible future. I told my daughters that if they had any ideas on getting tattoos in high school, it would have to be a family tattoo that we all get.

    pete,
 Of course I had more of a social life before my daughter came along but I still manage to get out every now and again.
I feel the same about tattoos they are very cool to look at but I’m not sure if I would get one. I’m too concerned about the chemicals however I would get a henna tattoo

I’m with you about the healthy living issue. You can’t push or force someone to exercise, eat better, etc., because if they don’t want to change themselves, if the desire is not there, then pushing and prodding will only make the situation worse; the motivation to pursue healthy habits has to come from within.

Opal…I love hearing that you love body art! and that you have had some piercings. On my 40th birthday I had my nose pierced and loved it! One job I had asked me if I would consider removing it…it wasn’t forced just suggested…and I did and the piercing grew back. I didn’t think taking it out for the job was that big a deal then…but I wouldn’t do it like that again. Needless to say my new hubby and I are going to get piercings in a few days. And yes, I want my nose done again and I am almost 50! There is something beautiful and exotic about body art like piercings, tattos, painting and even the bendi’s (gems with sticky on the back). Your never too old…

    Gorilla Trades,
Exactly! You cannot force someone to do something they don’t want to do. You can encourage but ultimately it’s up to them. If you keep beating someone over the head with the same tired lines they could end up resenting you or just ignoring you.

    Sherri,
I love them. They are so beautiful. I’m going to get mine repierced after the holidays. I have to admit I was disappointed when I found the place where I got most of mine done, Stikky Fingers, had closed it’s shop. They were located in Fell’s Point. Excellent staff positive environment, excellent information. They took good care of me. :-) Oh good for you and your new piercings.

    AntiBarbie,
You had me laughing with that. Trust me the competition is friendly and only done with like minded souls. We encourage each other and yes we do compete. My brother and I were involved with it throughout highschool and college. We pushed ourselves and each other. In some ways we still do that to this day. We’re supportive and our triumphs challenges the other to do the same. It’s an inspiration.

    Chinnee,
I cannot wait to see what you come up with. You’re definitely a super woman. :-)

Now, I get to know you better.

I didn’t know about all of your piercings. I am fascinated by body modification myself but really don’t want to modify my own body - it seems to be doing enough of that on it’s own as I’m aging and for other reasons. But I still love you even though you are all holier than me. ;)

Hey! How did I miss this one?

I might not have seen this post at all if not for the incoming link. :(

I suppose that’s why you keep the calendar on the sidebar for folks like me to visit 2-3 times a week.

Anyway, I liked this post. I’m feeling like I’m slowly starting to get to know you.

Oh and thanks so much for the mention and the compliment! I’m glad you like stopping by. I look forward to a break in classes, giving me more time to write (hopefully) interesting posts for you to read!

Speaking of more time, I’ve actually started a “to do” list for my blog which I’m should be able to start tackling Monday or Tuesday. (how often do you get to look forward to a to do list?) And this meme will make a perfect inaugural post!

    I’ll keep you ummm… posted?
