Congratulations You’ve Made It! Getting Here is Half The Battle

About a month ago as I went to Bally’s I was greeted by that message on the door. I stopped, smiled, and read what it had to say. note said

Congratulations! You’ve Made It! Getting Here is Half The Battle.

Following that powerful statement was a brief note that stated that actually being at the gym is half the battle and the commended all the members that made that huge leap with fitness.

I liked the message that Bally’s was promoting. I found it inspiring. I went inside and I thanked them. That statement is something I tell myself constantly and has helped me out when I’ve wanted to sit on the sidelines and feel sorry for myself. Your mind is powerful it can work for you or against you.

I’m on a juice cleanse. I started this past Saturday. It’s something I do several times throughout the year. I always love the results. My body isn’t deprived. I’m receiving all the nutrients I need it ‘s just in a liquid form. My energy level, already high, is higher when I’m on these cleanses. I’ve been awake since 1:30 a.m. if that tells you anything and I’ve been able to knock out a lot of work within a few short hours.

Your Not A Failure Until You Quit Trying

This week while I’m at the gym I’ve decided to focus on cardio and running. Yesterday I was on the cross trainer for thirty minutes. My incline was set to the highest it could go, 20. The resistance was at five. I was running the entire time on that machine. I did a little under four miles.

Enter The House Of Complain

When I first got on the machine yesterday all, I could think about was the thirty minutes of torture. This is going to feel like an eternity I grumbled to myself. Yeah with that mentality it would be! You see, I was focusing on the wrong thing!

Instead of thinking about the benefits that exercise has not only on my health but my overall well being I allowed myself to be overwhelmed by focusing on the wrong thing. I quickly reprogrammed my thoughts and started thinking about the positive aspect this would have on me and my juice cleanse. It worked before I knew it the workout was over and I hit the track. I was happy.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve done some type of physical activity. I’m muscular and have an above average physique. I got it because of the exercise I do and I’m always moving. If I don’t work out I feel guilty. You know what? I have moments when I encounter obstacles during my workouts. Usually they are ones that I’ve created.

When I purchased my iPod Nano last year, they were offering free engravings. Guess what I had engraved on the back of mine?

Your Not A Failure Until You Quit Trying

This is another one of my mottos and it’s something I say to myself daily. I like it. It’s short, simple, and to the point.

Think about that statement. Some of us never make it past the starting point, but instead we sit around and whine and feel sorry for ourselves. We think of reasons why we cannot accomplish something. We should be thinking about the methods we will use to get over that hurdle. Occasionally I have those moments like the brief moment I had when I was on the cross trainer, and I told myself to get off my butt, shut up, and get moving.

At times you might not succeed the first, or second time; in fact, it might take you numerous times to achieve your goals but I do believe it can be accomplished you might need a different game plan.

That’s a great motto! There’s another one I like that says something like:

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the small voice at the end of the day that says ‘I will try again tomorrow’.”

I would be interested to hear more about your juice cleanse. I have been toying with trying something like that myself.

I like your motto “Your Not A Failure Until You Quit Trying.” One I think about is ‘Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly.” Don’t expect to be an expert as you start something. Allow yourself the luxury of not doing well, but continuing to do it anyway knowing you’ll get better.

    Sophie,
Oh! that’s another good one. I’ve never heard it. Thanks for sharing. :-)

    Thomas,
Sure I wrote about it a little on Healing Yourself Naturally but perhaps that is something I should right about here also.

That’s another good motto also! Thanks for sharing. I think at times people forget that they will not always do something perfectly. It can take a while to build up to that point.

I love the sign at the gym - how wonderful that they are being so encouraging and getting people into the right frame of mind right away! And that motto about not failing until you stop trying - awesome!! I love those inspirational sayings. They are short, sweet and to the point. It’s like saying forget the past and leave all your baggage at the door. Take the day right now and make it the way YOU want it. I love that! :)

[...] Morgan has just started another experiment! I throughly enjoyed the first experiment, followed her to her new blog, and am eagerly looking forward to the results of her second experiment. She inspires me, and she uses such pretty themes! Here is the first post of her second experiment, great reading and a pretty design. The next award I have to hand out is the Be The Blog award. This award was presented to me by Opal aka The Vegan Momma, another blogger definitely worth visiting. Her writing helps me explore new ideas and ways of thinking. If you’re like me and are working on your health and energy level, you’ll probably love her post, “Congratulations, you made it!” [...]
