National Memory Screening Day: November 13, 2007
National Memory Screening Day is November 13, 2007. What is National Memory Screening Day? It’s a way to detect Alzheimer’s disease, and other related illness, and to encourage appropriate intervention. This day was spearheaded by Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
Not only is it important for those who are becoming older to take ask themselves a few questions to see if they might need a memory screening if you have a family member that is suffering from memory loss it’s important that you encourage them to be tested also. Looking at the questions that are asked I know my grandmother suffered from all of them.
My grandmother had developed Alzheimer’s disease. It’s hard to watch someone you love forget who you are. She was rarely sick, she had a tremendous amount of energy, and extremely positive.
Our family hoped for a cure that would bring the memories back to someone we loved so much. She passed away on November 4, 2004. She was 93 years old. Of course I miss her and during this month I think about her more than I already do. She was a positive role model that left a tremendous impact on my life.
Log onto National Memory Screening so that you can find a screening site for yourself or someone you know that is suffering from memory loss.
