Virtual House Cleaning: Website Maintenance
It’s about that time again. I’ve been writing about turning a few of my websites into static based websites and I’m finally going to get it completed. The first to receive a virtual makeover will be my Fuzzbutts website, Ferrets Haven. It’s moving from a blog to a static based website. I’ll still have the blog, but I’ll be adding articles about ferrets from a raw food perspective. There are a lot of people that are interested in feeding their ferrets raw food.
Do you know what I noticed? When I looked through my posts at Ferrets, Haven I noticed something I always refer to them as fuzzbutts I realized I rarely referred to them as ferrets. Alright so in my mind they are “fuzzbutts” guess what people who are looking for information about ferrets might not have a clue that Opal and some other ferret owners lovingly refer to their ferrets using that so I will be adding the term ferrets back to some of my posts.
Search engines aren’t how I receive the majority of my traffic but I’ll do my best to those looking for more information or simply cute photos out by adding ferrets in there so they can find me a lot easier.
Guess what? If you check the word fuzzbutts I’m ranked at number three with that term, I definitely won’t be deleting the mention of the word within my posts but I’ll be adding the word ferrets into it. Currently on the big G I’m ranked #4 for the term fuzzbutts and Yahoo has me ranked at #23. Who would have thunk, eh?
The Raw & The Cooked is also making the move to a static based website. I’ll have a section for recipes raw vegan and cooked vegan.
Vegan Momma will be last on the list for a virtual makeoever initially I was planning on taking care of this first. The blog won’t chance but the landing page, which is already static will. I’ll be adding a lot more information on Veganism, Nutrition, and Outreach and of course I’ll link to my blog from the main page.
I’ll be monetizing those websites. Currently I’m making about $70 with adsense on a monthly basis. When I started, this past May I was made $40 my first month.
I much prefer affiliate marketing. I average, a few hundred with affiliate marketing. I really enjoy affiliate marketing and like that I can choose what I want to market. In time I think my websites have the potential to make a lot more hence the maintenance. Now that I think of it it seems that I’m always doing something to improve my websites. ;-)
Question: Has anyone else done, or in the process of doing web maintenance. How long did it last?
