Coolio: 1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin New)

I’ve installed something new on this website. It’s the comment luv plug in. I first heard about it thanks to the lovely Sharon of The Diva Network and I was just over visiting one of my new blogs Rolando of R Playground and I was reminded, when I left my comment, that I did not install this on my website. It’s up and running now.

Who Created It?

Why the talented Andy Bailey.

What It Does?

If a commenter has a website it will will display the last post that they’ve written. I think it’s a fabulous way for my readers to get to know a little about one another and it’s a great way for you to promote your latest and greatest post. If you’re interested in the comment luv plug in you can download it by going to Andy Bailey’s website.

Increase In Spam?

It might cause an increase in spam comments I honestly don’t know since I just installed it on this blog. I don’t discriminate all comments are welcome as long as you don’t spam.

If you are a business owner, I won’t strip your url simply because you are a business owner. I have quite a few readers who are business owners and some of them do comment and link to their business. Their comments are thoughtful and just as important as anyone else.

Most of us promote our websites by leaving our url I’m not going to dock a business owner simply because they happen to leave their url. I’m a business owner myself, and occasionally I do use my business website in my url.

    reiskeks,
It looks like it worked. Actually I was the first CTD. I did a test comment so it’s working. That being said I’m glad that my first real commenter on this post has their post showing. Thanks for stopping by.

    hi, thanks for using CommentLuv!
please let me know if you experience any issues with it as I’m still in the process of updating it to version 1.0.
it’s been behaving fine on my blog since I made it and can pick up most peoples last posts but if you spot anything strange happening feel free to send me a message about it and I’ll do what I can to sort it out.

didn’t work for you beth because you have a non-standard feed location (?feed=rss) , this is something that will be taken care of in the next release!

  15. Opal Tribble said,

    April,
I thought the same thing when I saw it. :-) I really stink at my titles. I need to improve that.

    WomansIndex,
No resikes uses Blogger and their last post showed up without any issues, I do think you have to have a RSS Feed. I’ll follow up just to make sure.

    Calamity,
I think it might not be able to locate your feed. I remember noting that I could not find a feed when I first was on your website.

    Beth Ellen,
Hey non-standard is pretty cool in my book. It’s good to know that this will be addressed in the next update. I’m sure more people will cruise on over to look at your fab photos.

    MacBros,
LOL this would only happen to ole Mac, lol. I’ll follow up and let Andy know.

  16. Andy Bailey said,

    on October 10th, 2007 at 1:44 pm

don’t worry Beth, it’ll be fixed on the next release, it’ll also work for Calamity too

MacBros, it may be a timeout from this server to your server for the feed.
it should be able to be fixed if Momma puts this line in the config.php in the root of the blog folder

    define(’MAGPIE_FETCH_TIME_OUT’, 7);

7 is the timout length in seconds, you might be able to get it down to 5 and it should parse macbros’s feed

    hope this helps!

    Andy,
Wow your fast! I just arrived home. What a great way to assist others using your plugin. I’ll definitely be doing a follow-up review and making a donation. I now need to locate your donation link and add you to my WP Plugins page.

  18. Andy Bailey said,

    on October 10th, 2007 at 1:53 pm

 no donation needed! I only made this for my blog and have turned it into a release because of the nice people that helped me test it and the response to it has been reward enough for me

    MacBros,
Sorry it’s not working but I’m sure Andy will get it up and running.

    Andy,
thanks so much for your assistance. It’s appreciated and I know my readers appreciate it also. :-)

    Bobby,
Thanks! I’m enjoying your site also.

    teeni,
Regardless of where you post the plug in will work! :-)

    AnitBarbie,
I think you are right. I love it! I link to my readers websites often so this makes it even better and a great way to recognize even more people.

    pelf,
I use the no follow tag also. It’s great!

    costa rica,
You need to have an RSS feed in order for it to work. When you comment on someone’s blog it will link to the last post that you’ve written.

    WomansIndex,
Great, I’m really liking your website.

This plugin is great and works like a charm. Spam is not an issue in my testing and while I do see some extra activity - its really doesn’t affect me, since SK2 I use for killing it takes care of the small problem :)

Link love provided by plugin overwrites any concerns. It makes your blog truly sparkle :D

I think it may cause an increase in spam… I also am a little concerned that Google might not like it… they are great plugins for “community” sites but not so good for “SEO” sites I think. So it depends on that you’re going for… as a compromise I have it on about 1/2 my blogs
