Fear Of A Loc’d Planet

Posted on August 18th, 2007 in Personal by Vegan Momma

Aiyana and I were hanging with her grandparents after the Chuck E. Cheese adventure. My mom is staring at my hair. I’m chatting with my father silently willing her to just come out and say it (I knew what she was going to say.)

After a few more minutes of ripping my loc’s apart with her eyes she finally asks, “Uhm, so when are you going to err fix your hair. I laughed and said, “My hair is *fixed* it’s just not fixed the way you want stick straight or in a curly perm. I could talk about loc diversity until I was hoarse but my mother would still see them as unattractive.

I’m seriously thinking about representing every single stereotype she has on loc’s/natural hair the next time. Let’s see locs are dirty, makes you unattractive, men won’t date you, you won’t get hired, etc.,

Parenting: At Times It’s Best To Keep Your Trap Shut

Posted on August 18th, 2007 in Entertainment, Family, My little Angel by Vegan Momma

Alright so I mentioned how I would be taking my daughter to Chuck E. Cheese today. Why in the world did I tell her that? Yesterday every few moments my daughter was asking me if it was time to go to Chuck E Cheese? No Aiyana that happens tomorrow. She would wait a few minutes before asking the same question. No dear it’s still Friday only a few moments later. Of course she knew this was true but it didn’t stop her from asking.

Earlier this morning I made a bowl of peaches that I pureed in the food processor. I have a feeling she won’t be eating too much once we are there. I plan on spending a good portion of the day at Chuck E. Cheese so I’m bringing along some reading material for the times that I don’t participate on the fun. They have vegan options on the menu so I’m happy with that.

As can be expected Aiyana is practically bouncing out of her skin today. We’ll be heading out in about an hour.
