GnomeyNewt of Bluejar.com: Webmaster Tools and Guides That You Can Actually Use is new to the blogging scene. Check out her post BlueJar.com Monthly Update 2007 it’s a great way for your readers to see what you’ve been doing. Maybe it will help or inspire them to review their own websites.

After reading the article I scrolled on over to the about page. I was and pleased to see another woman looking back at me. It’s inspiring, for me, to see women out there giving tips. The majority of the tips I’ve received have been from men.

GnomeyNewt inspired me to give my website updates their own category.

Top 7 Blog Mistakes To Avoid

With a name like that you have to check it out right? David Airey has written an excellent post titled Top 7 Blog Mistakes To Avoid. I looked over the list and had to chuckle I did 4-7. Wow!

Thankfully I fixed those mistakes, but I wish I had done it a lot sooner. What’s the biggest mistake I think I made choosing the name Vegan Momma I should have used something differently but at the time I wasn’t thinking about using my blog for too long. I figured I would blog for about a year and then focus on the “main website.”

David Airey has numerous tips that I believe people will find useful so please stop by his website and pay him a visit.

The Bikini Concept - Give More Away to Increase Demand

Thomas - Technical Blogger has written an excellent post about giving more away. One of the first things I noticed about Thomas was the amount he gave to others. His technical advice is excellent and he constantly recognizes other one of the ways he does this is through linking.  Thanks to Thomas I’ve been able to meet more bloggers and a few have been added to my RSS feed. Thanks Thomas!

This man is always recognizing other people within his blog post. I found this extremely refreshing. I think it says a lot about type of person he is. Stop by and check out his post The Bikini Concept- Give More Away To Increase Demand.
When you have a chance please stop by and recognize these fabulous bloggers. I’m hoping you enjoy your visit as much as I have. Keep up the fantastic work everyone!

Thanks for the kind mention! You’ve spelt my name wrong, but that’s no biggie.

I hope you have a great weekend.

    David,
You know what I did my apologies. I made the change.

Opal - You not only added my post, you found and used a great photo of Bettie Page!

I definitely think that knowledge is best when shared, and that it is important to give credit where credit is due.

When I first started blogging, I emailed a high profile blogger with additional information and a correction about one of their posts. I noticed they posted updated information and the correction, not long after my email, but never mentioned why the updated post. I kind of think that my email jogged their memory and they created a new post, but I was bummed that I wasn’t at least given a ‘he jogged my memory credit’ on the blog. I think it is important to credit those that help you. At this point I don’t even remember who they are, as I dropped them from my reader the next day.

Thanks for the great review, your link love has not gone unnoticed! :c)

@Thomas: I so totally know what you mean about other bloggers not giving credit where it is due. I’ve been trying to give link out if I got an idea or inspired. Just forget about those that don’t credit where it is due, karama has a special place for those that do :c).

    Thomas,
I’m a huge Betty Page fan. I have quite a few items of her. I remember about five years ago (maybe more) an organization was trying to get her to make an appearance but she refused. In the radio conversation, she thanked all her fans, but she wanted to keep a low profile. I always wondered if that was that she wanted people to remember how she looked then instead of what she looked like now. I was disappointed, but I can understand people wanting to live in quiet.

What a bummer! It never hurts to give credit to others. I think people will appreciate that more instead of you trying to hog all the attention.

You’ll most likely get the respect from the person that jogged your memory but also the respect of others since they realize you will acknowledge others.

That’s happened to me a few times in the blogging community and when I worked in the corporate setting. It always left taste in my mouth, and I imagine that is largely since I would never do that to someone else.ê

    GnomeyNewt ,
You’re welcome I don’t do it in order to get links in return, lol. I just enjoy recognizing fabulous blogs. :-)

GnomeyNewt - I completely know what you mean about Karma, which is why I have named my link post, Link Karma. BTW - I like Jar full of Links, great tie in with your site.

Opal - My understanding is that Bettie Page has become a devout Christian, and has tried to put her extensive work from the 50’s behind her. That is too bad, my wife and I are huge fans of her work, and also Vargas stye pinups. My dad gives me a bad time and says I am geared more towards the 50’s than now ;)

I truely believe that giving credit where credit is due only enhances your credibility, but will make others more willing to share information and collaborate with you in the future.
