I’m posting my Photo Hunters a day early.  I’ll be away most of the weekend. I have a lot of family coming into town. As I sat here thinking what could I possibly post that was creative I realized the photos were loaded on my camera? I made “seafood patties” (what a friend calls them) last evening.

Aiyana, my four year old daughter, arranged the plate. Isn’t that creative? The creativity doesn’t stop there. The patties made from zucchini.

Nutrition is very important to me but equally important is how something tastes. If something isn’t flavorful but just happens to be nutritious I can tell you now that my daughter won’t eat it, lol.

These patties received the thumbs up from my omni buddy who has thankfully started adding more vegetables and fruit into his daily intake. He told me these patties remind him of seafood.

The zucchini patties don’t have anything from the sea in them but I think he’s reminded of it because of some of the seasonings I used such as old bay seasoning and dry mustard.  You’ll find some of the same seasonings in crab cakes.

Do you want the recipe? You can find the zucchini burger recipe on my website The Raw & The Cooked. Enjoy!

If your vegetarian/vegan or just want a change from a crab cake or burger you might want to give these a try. They are moist and delicious and very healthy.

Weekly Spotlight: The Spotlight Is On…

Posted on July 27th, 2007 in Personal, Weekly Spotlight by Vegan Momma

Vegan Momma's Weekly Spotlight

I’m sure you’ve seen them during you’re blog visits. You’ve stumbled upon a blogger that has written an excellent article if you’re like myself you’ve probably Dugg it or Stumbled it. I try to Digg or Stumble a website every day. It’s my way of letting the writer know that I truly appreciate what they wrote.

Initially, I would share one or few with my readers but the more I thought about I realized that I could be doing more so I decided to have a Vegan Momma’s Weekly Spotlight.

I’ve seen numerous blogs, such as, Snoksred, do this and I enjoy it immensely. What a great way to recognize the many fabulous blogs that is out there. This past week I encountered numerous articles on the net that I really enjoyed, and I thought I would direct my readers attention to some that really stood out.

Megan Bayliss ~ Imaginif (Child Safety Blog)
I cannot remember how I “met” Megan but I’ve been a regular reader ever since. This past week Megan wrote an article with a catchy title called Google Mail - Because Google’s got a Doodle, not a Penis

Megan writes about parents who struggle to use correct names for private body parts. Is it a good thing? Are there reasons why this could backfire?  suppose a child is touched and are ashamed to mention it because talking about private body parts isn’t allowed will they tell you if something happens to them?

Curious? Please take a moment to stop by and visit Megan at Imaginif her and the other fabulous writers that are involved with this organization go that extra mile writing articles that talk about ways we can keep children safe.

One Man’s Goal
I discovered one man’s goal this week I really enjoyed reading the article he wrote about Google Page Rank Simplified if you’re looking for an excellent breakdown of Google’s ranking system read his article on the subject. Don’t forget to look at the other articles he has also.

He has lots of informative articles available for his readers. Another one, of the many, that I liked was, Why Should You Move Your Free Blog To It’s Own Domain. He has written excellent points on the topic and it’s something I’ve been saying the same thing for quite a while.

Snokesred
I’ve been a regular Snokesred reader for about one month. The article she wrote about check scamming really captured my attention Snoskred made 5 MILLION DOLLARS online this year! She has written several articles about online scamming on her blog.

Thomas - Technical Blogger
I’ve linked to Thomas a few times recently, and I know I’ll continue to do it. I’m really impressed with what this man is doing he has a “regular job” at Microsoft but he still finds the time to pound out good quality material. Impressive!

I really liked his article Blog Grade is Not Just One Thing and it’s so true instead of looking at one thing we really need to look at everything in order to have a quality website.

And another from Thomas…
Thomas interviews Jeremiah Owyang of Podtech (he’s currently the director of Corporate Media Strategy at Podtech.net) in this video podcast which he’s titled Conversation with Jeremiah Owyang on Using Technology for Customer Service.

I’ve learned about Jeremiah Owyang by visiting Thomas’ blog. Thomas mentioned him in a few posts so I had to go and visit Jeremiah. I was curious so I had to check out his virtual spot. I’m glad I stopped by his website. In this podcast Jeremiah gave some excellent pointers on how a business can effectively communicate with their public.

If you think about it, some of tips that he suggested for business can be used in other aspects of your life such as blogging! I now use Google Alerts, thanks to this informative interview.

I started using Google Alerts a few moments after listening to this podcast and would you believe that within a few hours I received my first alert? It’s true a customer had written about my business on their blog.

I was able to stop by and add to the conversation. The review was positive but suppose it was negative receiving an alert like this would help me address these issues an respond accordingly.

I was relying on Technorati, and the Google search engine although it was effective this has added another way that I can check and stay on top of things. Thanks! I’ve also set Google Alerts so I receive info about my personal websites.

I hope my readers get the chance to stop by these fabulous blogs.
