Coon Chicken Inn
It doesn’t offend me. I think it’s a poor portrayal of what blacks look like. When I was a child I read about Coon Chicken Inn. Yes it was a restaurant. Until recently I hadn’t thought about it in years.
A few months ago I watched the movie Ghost World and guess what I saw this poster again. I was surprised to see it mention in this movie and even more surprised at what Steve’s character said happened to Coon Chicken Inn.
In the movie Steve’s character said the restaurants name changed to another name (the name escapes me at the moment) but in reality the name didn’t change. It stayed the same until it closed down. I pulled up additional information along with some pictures I hadn’t seen before.
