How Much Has Opal Made?

You know I’ve forgotten to do? Let my readers know how much I’ve made since I began adding sponsored content to my website. I started the last week in April.
Here’s what I’ve made so far…
Pay Per Post $498.50
Sponsored Reviews $156.00
Bloggerwave $ 20.00
Blogsvertise $ 82.50
LinkyLoveArmy $ 10.00
Review Me $ 25.00
Google Adsense $ 2.67
Total $ 794.67
In seven weeks I’ve made $794.67! Not bad, eh? Actually I’ve made a little over $1,000 but I haven’t included the reviews I picked up on my own (two) or the articles I’m writing. They will be included in the end of June’s update.
Here’s the kicker. I could have made a lot more money.
There were many opportunities I turned down because…
1. They were completely off the wall for my website.
2. I don’t want to be throwing up anything just because I can get paid.
3. I’ll only write about what I’m interested in.
I Don’t Write Reviews Every Day
I don’t write paid reviews daily and the ones I do are clearly marked. I know some of you have been interested in giving this a try as you see you can make a fine bit of pocket money by doing what you’re already doing, writing. I don’t even want to think of the amount I could have made if I picked up a review almost every single day. There are a few weeks where I didn’t do too many sponsored reviews.
Google Adsense
I signed up with Google Adesense this past Thursday. I didn’t start using it until Saturday. Saturday & Sunday total clicks made me $2.67 from this website. I’ve set a goal to average $2.00 per day. I’ll give myself until mid July. I’m still learning about ad placement so I’m taking baby steps.
The ad design is still not the way I like it but I’ll be playing around with that today.
***Upcoming Contest***
Moving forward I’ll start including my earnings on a weekly or perhaps monthly basis. I’m still trying to think of a name for that and in fact I’m thinking of having my readers help pick me a name so stay tuned the winner will receive a gift basket featuring my handmade natural beauty products.
Moving Forward
I’ve enjoyed researching, and experimenting with this website and more importantly connecting with new people and reconnecting with my old blog buddies. Adding sponsored content to this blog has really gotten the creative juices flowing, and it has given me ideas that I can implement with other websites.
I’ve talked about it briefly with Beth through our email correspondence. I’ll probably keep that project under wraps for a few months before I officially release it.
If you haven’t checked out Beth’s spot please do she takes amazing photos! I would have to say she is my favorite online photographer and that isn’t easy there are many I truly enjoy. I try to visit her virtual corner every single day.

You have me intrigued with the project that you and Beth are doing! Keep me posted (when you can)
Congrats on all the moo-lah! That’s fantastic! I should look into doing something like that!!! Maybe not all of them…just the pay per post.
The crackers turned out tastee…could have probably left them in a little longer but I was pleasantly surprised at the taste. JUST enough flavor - you know!

For many sites, there’s typically a sharp downturn for adsense on weekends (U.S. holidays can be a killer too), so it’ll be interesting to see how that performs for you during a normal 5 day week.
The nice thing about some of these programs is that they pay based on traffic estimations and pagerank, which means you can get paid regardless of whether your traffic is finely tuned or non-specific to a particular topic. Adsense, on the other hand, can deliver really well even for a site that doesn’t have much traffic, as long as it delivers very highly targeted traffic. And for this reason, you have tons of adsense publishers running niche sites with low traffic numbers who are making several k a month.
With adsense, it all comes down to numbers. Either pages that deliver highly targeted traffic or simply having tons and tons of traffic (generally derived from a single very popular page, such as drudgereport, or from a site that has many pages with good original content that are well optimized and possess enough pagerank to not slip into google’s supplemental index).

Wow, congratulations! You need a “thumbs up” smiley. :) I am really impressed and have to say I wish I had the tenacity to do something like that but there are time factors.
You’re so kind about my photo work. There are so many amazing photographers and it is difficult to stand out in the midst of it all as an “amateur”. It is really encouraging that folks enjoy them enough to come back. I hope to continue to improve in my skill over the coming year.

Not bad! I’m going to check out some of these programs that you mentioned and keep you updated on my progress. Thanks!!

LOL The animation.
Luckily for me I’ve earned about $1,000 in the past month too with the same services you use. In fact the ones you referred me to.
I’ll be using some of that for my apartment hunting, as soon as PayPal get it into my bank. I wanted to wait till today to withdraw it from PayPal because I had a lot of high payout going into paypal today.
Lets hope this train doesn’t stop anytime soon ey’?

I changed my header again…but…might change it again later…I don’t like it as much as the last one…and I sort of did it by mistake and didn’t safe the old picture! Oops!

Awesome, Opal. Very intereting post. I really like the rankings of who makes money blogging. I bet we see you there one day! I am having a hard time getting started. It is taking forever for pay per post, smorty, and blogitive to get me activated.

chase,
I didn’t think I would make that much when I started using the services.
Harmonia,
Sorry about that it’s not a joint project I just mentioned to Beth some of my plans.
El Yanqui,
Thanks! I stopped by your spot briefly and really enjoyed it I’ll be visiting you again later this week when I have more time.
john,
Yes, it took a lot of work.
Tim,
I figured as much yesterday I made $2.42 with this website. I love the gif as well. :-)
Beth Ellen,
True time is indeed a factor but I figured I could squeeze a few hours in here and there to wor at this project since the end results will more than make up for it.
I’m already being hit up for a loan. ;-) LOL
LisaC,
You should there are a lot of great programs out there.
MacBros,
You can send my finders fee to….Nah you know I’m just messing with you. ;)
Harmonia,
I saw the header and I like it. Ok, missy when are you going to stick with one header?
Ugly Naked Guy,
I know Pay Per Post has made a recent upgrade maybe that factors in. I cannot remember how long it took for Smorty I think three days. They don’t have too many opportunities. I wrote reviews for them in the first two weeks. I haven’t written any sense that time.

Good luck mam.

congrats! It’s great to see people sharing exact figures like that. So many people are very secretive. I was wondering if I should also share this sort of info on my blog.
I remember reading on one of the May Angelou books where she made loads of money selling drinks in a club by telling customers outright what she earns from each drink they buy. The other girls couldn’t understand why she was earning so much!
