Vactioning in July
This is a sponsored post.
It’s another gorgeous day in Maryland. Aiyana and I spent most of our day outside. Guess what? I put up a new patio swing this morning. I’ll post pictures of that later. Aiyana, of course, has had much fun swinging in that. We even ate our lunch on the swing.
I grilled portobella mushrooms that had been marinated in a garlic & herb sauce. I also made Rosemary garlic fries. Those were placed in the oven.
Soon, Independence Day will be here. Time flies by so quickly! We will be going to Summerton, South Carolina. We usually are in Summerton twice each year. I love that town.
We always stay in the town of Manning. We used to stay in a hotel but after talking to relatives about the vacation rentals they’ve used. We started staying in a condo.
I really enjoy the condo we reside in. It’s right on Lake Marion. The view we have from our windows is gorgeous and it’s quiet. I love the country.
I do think of it as my home away from home. It includes a two bedrooms. The master has a king size bed, and there is also a Jacuzzi. Aiyana is still afraid of the Jacuzzi.
The condo we use has a full kitchen with lots of extras. It’s a home chef’s dream come true. I used to take a few of my skillets, blenders, and other utensils with me when I traveled but not anymore. The only thing I have to supply is the food. There are numerous stores around and since I’m by numerous farmers I have plenty of fresh produce to choose from.
In the early mornings, we awaken and take a walk on the dock. I usually snap photos. The fishermen are out on the water early.
Do you want to guess who has started counting down the days to our vacation? Yes that would be Aiyana.
Question: How do you spend your vacations?

My parents are going to NC in October!
Oh! A new swing, can’t wait to see pics! ;)
I am just excited if I get a vacation anymore. Last year it wasn’t really a vacation since we had to bury my grandmother but we went to Florida. It was 2 months after she passed away and her wishes were to be cremated and buried next to grandpa in the National Cem. We did spend sometime in a few places but that wasn’t the real reason we went.
This year we traveled to a few hockey games in 2 states. One of them we made a trip out of. I enjoyed two trips to Vegas…one in 2002 and another in 2005…those were nice…lots to do!
A few others in between, but I guess the easiest way to answer your question is…just when I can get away and do something different, you know. No, I didn’t want to “bury” my Grandmother (unexpected death, really) but we did complete her wishes and most of the family got together…so it was “nice”…but when we do plan trips/vacations it’s just nice to get away and do something different…you know?
Can’t wait to hear more about your upcoming plans!
