This past weekend I worked on my websites. Websites? Yes, I have several. How many websites do I have? Two personal and one business website. Currently I have twelve domains and they are distributed between the three.
If you’ve been checking out my blog over the past few weeks you know I’ve been writing briefly about advertising, Google PR, & Alexa ranking. I’m hoping I dont turn any of my readers off with my recent additions (sponsored reviews which are clearly marked) and a few ads tossed on the sidebar. It’s an option that I’ve thought about, off and on, for a long time.
I pay for my own hosting. My personal websites run me a little over $500 (based on the packages I’ve upgraded to) when I add my business it brings it over $1,000 per year. Although I can afford to pay for my hosting it still would be nice to get that money back through advertising.
In a prior post I had mentioned my total websites was a little over $500. That would be my total personal websites. That does not include my business website.
I’ve set goals for my personal website. Imagine that? Goals! To be honest I’ve always had goals for them but I kept procrastinating. I did not sit down and think about how I was going to accomplish them.
Why? It was “just a personal website” so I figured I really did not need to give it that much attention. How foolish of me, eh? I’m looking at where they are now and where I want them to be. I’ve set short & long term goals.
I receive a lot of personal email from my readers, mainly lurkers, and I always do my best to respond in a timely fashion. I think it’s just good manners. They wouldn’t have written me with questions if they weren’t expecting an answer, right?
Quite a few of then have questions about a variety of topics, mostly related to alternative health or nutrition. I always do my best to respond. I truly enjoy helping others. I truly enjoy the emails that I receive. It’s a great way to get to know those within the virtual community.
Alexa Rank
Yesterday I noticed that my Alexa Rank has dropped down about another 70,000 points. Which brings it to 358,375. Although I don’t think it should be as big of a deal as it is some companies do look at it.
I’ve added “bringing it down” on my to do pile. I’ve done well. When I first started looking. I did not even rank. In less than one week my Alexa dropped to under 500,000 and that was before I included the widget. The bottom line whether I like it or not some advertisers do look at it. The lower the better.
Technorati
My Technorati rank has dropped by 20,000 plus points and I’ve picked up around 10 more readers that have linked to me.
Google PR
It dropped down to a 4 a few weeks ago. I suspect that is due in part to changing the name from Vegan Momma to The Raw & The Cooked as you can see Vegan Momma is back and I’ve moved The Raw & The Cooked to it’s own website. I strongly suspect that the Google PR will jump up when the next update rolls around.
I’ve done a lot of reading on Google PR. It’s funny I never paid attention to it until I started thinking about advertising. It will be interesting to see if the guesses I’ve made, and the steps I’ve gone to improving my PR are effective. The next update should tell.
New Websites
The Raw & The Cooked is coming along nicely. Even if you’re not vegetarian I imagine you will find recipes that you like. Don’t tell me that you only eat animal based products! Don’t get me started on how unhealthy that could be. ![]()
As I’ve said numerous times before you can be healthy eating animal based diet. I know many people who are. You’ll never hear me say differently but you do have to make healthy choices. This is true with vegetarians also. If you eat unhealthy as a veggie (and trust me you can) most likely you won’t be healthy.
If you are looking for ways to improve your health through eatings you really need to check it out. I’m a whole foods vegan. I rarely eat processed foods. Why? It just isn’t good for you. Your body derives little to no nutrients eating that way. I rarely get sick. That’s due in part to my eating habits, exercise, and positive outlook on life. Yes, they are all connected.
The Raw Review
This week I’ll be focusing on adding content to The Raw Review. The Raw Review isn’t going to be reviews only website. Personally, I think that would be boring. I’ll be adding quite a few original articles, that I have authored, from the Holistic standpoint.
Did you know I have a website dedicated to ferrets and another for dogs? The past few months they have been on cast aside but I’ve added them to my to do pile.
I’m pleased with the overall themes on my websites but I still need to do a little more tweaking & that might take a while. Although I would like to see money made off these sites I want to do it tastefully. I’ve met numerous people thanks to my websites and I want to keep my readers coming back without turning them off.
