Still Testing

Posted on May 8th, 2007 in Personal, Technology by Vegan Momma

Alright I’m still playing around with advertising on my blog. I’m currently testing out a few pay per click ads. I’m new to it so this is still in the testing phase. For those interested Pro Blogger has some excellent tips on website advertising. He’s done quite well for himself. I have a friend who makes a living solely from blog advertising.

I’ve been monitoring this website closely (It’s the one I’m testing.) I’ve currently received more hits in the past 8 days than I’ve ever received through my entire time on this website. I knew I had to work at getting my numbers up I just didn’t have the time before to do it. However I’m making the time now. I’ve shown a sample of what I’m seeing from my admin panel

Stats for May

Total Unique Sites 5554
Total Unique URLs 703
Total Unique Referrers 487
Total Unique User Agents 636
. Avg Max
Hits per Hour 592 1767
Hits per Day 14226 23021

I have a lot of plans for this website and I’ll be posting my thoughts and asking your opinions on various ideas throughout the process. Advertising is only one small part of the goals I’ve set for this website.

I will be posting more about alternative remedies. I want to thank Diane of The Mommy Spot for indirectly inspiring me to talk more about what I truly love. By the way check out her blog when you have the chance. She has a lot of wonderful tips.

I’ve been blogging for a little over two years during that time I’ve met hundreds of bloggers. Occasionally I’ll mention them in a post. In some cases I mention my favorites often. I’m going to make a point to focus on one blogger a few times each month and dedicate a post to their fabulous site. I’m hoping that you’ll enjoy visiting them as much as I do!

I would ignore the Hits stats because most of those could be spider bots. Your main interest should be focused on Unique hits, those Unique hits are the actual numbers as far as how many individual people visit.

Hit’s would count every single visit I made in a day, but the Unique ones would just record the one time I’ve visited during that day or month, however you have it set up.

    MacBros,
I know that. :-) I really like my web stats it comes with with my hosting service. I have 4-5 choices to choose from and it shows me exactly where the info is coming from. It even shows the bots. Very Cool. Sometimes I go directly to the site that checked me out through my analytics program. I’ve come across some really nice blogs/websites that way.
