Animals do the darndest things don’t they?
When I saw the video of cat opening doors I had to laugh. Animals are very intelligent. They’re more intelligent than some of us think. I had trained my cat, Veba, to use the toilet. She was one smart cat. That was the only “trick” I taught her. When I attempted to teach her new tricks she would look at me as if I was nuts and continue doing whatever she was doing.
I wasn’t fooled I knew she could have done it if she wanted to she just choose not to do it. I’m not too surprised she agreed to use the toilet since she never liked the litter box.
My dogs were a lot easier to train. I’m imagining they are just humoring me. I’ve taught both of my dogs (Lalita & Mr. Bentley) to shake hands, give high fives, & roll over. Mr. Bentley will “sing” along with you. I have to admit at times that gets a trifle annoying but I created my own monster so I cannot complain about that, can I?
Do you know I’ve heard that some people have trained their ferrets to do tricks. I haven’t tried that yet. Hmm perhaps I can get my ferrets to open doors like those cats http://www.architecturalclassics.com/blog/cats-opening-doors/. What do you think?

I saw a cat on youtube, if you search for it long enough you’ll probably find it. Anyhow, he actually uses the toilet and flushes afterwards also!. Not kidding either.

i remember when i was a kid i saw our cat meowing by the toilet door coz it wanted to get in and relieve itself coz i think it could not find its litter box.
We had taught it by “force” to go to the toilet after it used to messed in the house. I was quite impressed by that.

Cats are very smart and can be trained. However, I think more often than not they train their owners to stop trying to train them.
