Neo Office

Neo Office

Yesterday I installed NeoOffice on my Macbook Pro. Unlike the Mac OS X release of OpenOffice.org, NeoOffice does not require the X11 windowing system. I used OpenOffice for a few months with my Mac. One of the main reason I didn’t like OpenOffice is because a few of my recipients were unable to open some of the documents I sent them.  I had converted them into MS Office formats. It worked perfectly on my end but not so hot when they went to open the file. Talk about frustrating! Gah!!!

I had heard about Ne0-Office. I’m a regular on the Apple forum and this open source has been mentioned a lot. I decided to check it out yesterday. Talk about perfect timing! I had a project due today. I completed the project. I saved it into a Microsoft compatible file (in this case it was Powerpoint) and tested it on my Hp Pavillion. I was able to open it without any problems. I sent it off and it was received without any problems.
