Digital Frames

In the past two years I’ve started seeing the digital photo frame. Was I surprised? Not really. :-) I figured it was only a matter of time before digital photography made it’s way to a digital photo frame. I don’t remember seeing digital picture frames around when my daughter was born almost four years ago. They might have been in existence I just don’t recall seeing them. I definitely would have purchased one for my office. I was a working out of home mom back then and I would have loved to have had something like this around especially when I first went back to work. It was hard being separated from my four month old daughter. It would have cut down on the clutter. I had a few pictures of my daughter in my tiny office space. :-)

I’ve always been a fan of India’s culture. Which explains why I named my pets after Hindu gods and goddesses. My Maltese is called Lalita. I also have four ferrets (three males and one female.) What are their names? Their names are Ganesh, Indra, Kali, and Hanuman. Did I mention Indian cuisine? Mmm, I love India’s food. I have a few friends that are Indian and am always happy when I’m invited to their house. It’s a chance to enjoy traditional Indian cuisine.

About five or six years ago a friend told me about Bollywood. I said, “Bolly who?” He said, “Opal, think of it as Hindi cinema.” He suggested a few Bollywood movies. I took his advice and watched them.movies to watch. Well I was hooked! I loved the fantastic colors and the elaborate costumes I saw many of the actors & actresses wear and the music. Amazing! I was in heaven. :-) Did you know that Bollywood is the most productive film industry in the world? It’s true! Their studios in and around Bombay bring over 800 productions per year to the screen. In comparison, Hollywood manages only 600.

Excellent Workout ~ 04/23/07

Exercise cartoon

You know what? My workout was fabulous! Occasionally, during my workouts, I would glance over into the pool area. It’s on the main level. It’s set apart from the workout area by glass. I was slightly concerned. There was no one in there. That usually means that the sauna is closed. Not so this time! When I went to the pool area I was pleased to note that the sauna was indeed open and I had it all to myself, for about thirty minutes. Ahh, that rarely happens but I sure did enjoy it! :-)

Dominion: The Power of Man, the Suffering of Animals, and the Call to Mercy

Matthew Sculley

I recently discovered this book Dominion: The Power of Man, the Suffering of Animals, and the Call to Mercy by Matthew Scully. What’s so interesting about it? Matthew Sculley is a vegan, conservative republican. He was an assistant and a speech writer for President George W. Bush. I always enjoy hearing different perspectives on animal rights. Sweet! I’m buying this book.

All too often I hear that conservatives aren’t concerned about humans, animals, or the environment. This of course is untrue. It never ceases to amaze me how people blindly place inaccurate labels on one another.
