Shameless bragging, homeschooling, & another workout

Aiyana is ready for church ~ Easter Sunday 2007
Yep! That’s my girl! Isn’t she precious? I took these pictures of my little princess (ok she’s not so little she’s very tall for her age) this past Sunday. Aiyana’s hair is fairly long (half way down her back when wet) but you’d never tell from her pictures. She has very curly hair. Once it’s dry it quickly shrinks up into tight curls. Which is sort of like my hair except mine would shrinks up into tiny coils/corckscrew curls. I happened to like them. At least that’s what it used to do before I started wearing my hair, once again, in dreadlocks.
When it comes to hair maintenance I usually braid Aiyana’s hair in large braids at night. It makes her hair more manageable since her hair is super curly the hair strands have a tendency to merge together which can lead to matting. Oh no can’t have that! I keep a sray bottle that I’ve filled with water and essential oils. I shake spray, separate her hair with a wide tooth comb, and braid. I repeat until the all of her hair is braided.
The past few months (ok years) I’ve been thinking about homeschooling my daughter. I was actually leaning on putting her in Montessori school. I still can if I want but I’m actually thinking of teaching her at home for the first few years and getting involved with other local home schoolers.
