Cinnamon Crackers
About a week ago I bought 10 pounds of organic flax seeds from Bulk Foods. Did you know that flax seed a rich source of Omega-3 EFA (essential fatty acid.) They also contain the EFA’s Omega-6 and Omega-9. Why are essential fatty acids “essential”? They are the main structural components of the body’s cell membranes. Guess what they cannot be synthesized by the body. They must be obtained from the diet. In western diets many people are usually deficient in Omega-3 fatty acids. They usually contain an overabundance of the Omega-6 fatty acids. Where do we get Omega 6? Saturated fats and vegetable oils like corn, soy, safflower and sunflower oil are high in Omega-6 fatty acids, and interfere which the body’s ability to utilize Omega-3 EFA’s. Did you know that too much Omega-6 EFA’s are believed to promote the development of many diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases? It pays to be mindful of what you eat.
