I believe I posted this ebook before but it’s worth posting again. The name of the book is Dying to Get Well by Shelly Keck. It’s a look at one womans journey from a Standard American Diet to Raw Foods.

I’ve always made the effort to eat plenty of whole foods even before my vegetarian days. I made the switch to vegetarianism for ethical reasons. It really bothered me that farm animals were treated differently than “pets”. When I was abput six years old I remember thinking, “Hmm, all animals are capable of affection! Why are some animals put on pedestals and treated like family (pets) and others considered “not good enough?”I also realized that certain ethnic groups were treated the same way. What’s up with that?

Seven Day Green Challenge

Frederick Patenaude has a Seven Day Green Challenge which starts tomorrow. I won’t be participating. I’m focusing on eating (not juicing) plenty of green leafy vegetables but I will be doing my own green juice challenge in a few weeks.

Raw Portobello Burger

The portobellos were marinated in a raw agave ginger sauce and dehydrated overnight. I set the temperture at 105F. The mushrooms did a great job of soaking up this blend.
