Cleansing update

I usually ease into my juice cleanses with a smoothie in the morning. Today I was racing out of the house and forgot to do that so I bought a raw salad for lunch. It had wild dandelion greens, kale, collards, and red onions. The dressing was freshly ground peppercorn and a water based dressing. There is a cool restaurant, Koffee Therapy, not to far from where I work that makes everything fresh.

Importance of Chewing

Have you ever noticed how quickly some people gulp down their food? Hmm, I wonder what affect this has on our body. I tell my daughter, “Chew! Chew! Chew! Good job chewing! I give her a high-five and she smiles pleased that she is a good chewer. I chew each mouthful about 50 times. When you slow down and actually savor each bite not only do you cut down on gassiness it makes you feel full a lot faster and it aids in digestion.

My daughter, Aiyana, is a whole foods diva just like her mommy. :-) The snacks she prefers are fruits, vegetables, and raw treats. She asks me daily to make her a smoothie. When she visits family & friends and they offer her sugary desserts and savory snacks she turns them down at times I have encourage her to try something they offered she will tentatively take a bike, wrinkle her little nose and turns it down. I think it is important to teach children at a young age the importance of health and nutrition as a vegan child I know she will receive her fair share of questions and perhaps some teasing.

It’s interesting to note that 2/3rds of the world’s population squat. I use a kiddie stool . I have noticed a different since using it. They do sell squatting stools that are designed for toilets.

Give me the juice, the whole juice, and nothing but the juice

I started my juice cleanse yesterday. I don’t think of this as my “final step” in my cleansing process. I’m always make an effort to choose cleansing and healing foods. It’s hard to believe its almost been one month since I started my food cleanse. Wow time certainly flies by.

Yesterday I drank water throughout the day. I added two tablespoons of Dr. Schulze’s superfoods to my water. I did this twice. Last morning I picked wheat grass, kale, collards and fennel from the garden. I added ginger, habanero pepper, celery, and 4 cloves of garlic to this juicing blend. It was slightly bitter but it is so good for you. It’s a healing drink.
