Food Dehydrators & Banana cookies

Yesterday I made banana cookies.
My daughter wanted to sample them before they were completely finished. I gave her two. They are loaded with nutrition & fiber. I added carrot pulp from juicing. Her favorite word to describe food she likes is ‘yummy’ and that was what she called them after eating sampling them. She begged for more cookies a few more times throughout the day. I will be taking them out shortly.
I will be making flax vegetable crackers today. I will be including ground flax seeds, freshly ground flax seeds, tomatoes, nutritional yeast, and pureed black beans. I have made these before and they don’t last long. I will post the recipe later. They are great alone, served with soups, dips, e.g.

Hi there! Monday. BLAH. My weekend wasn’t so good, but visiting your blog was the first thing I did after checking my comments this morning!!!! I’m addicted to your blog! (As if you didn’t already know that) LOL.
Anyhow, I SO want a dehydrator! I tried doing some stuff in the oven and BOTCHED it. ACK! Well, I will be posting a few things I attempted last night on my blog later today.
More comments coming soon

They are fabulous! If you are looking for healthier alternatives to snacks this is a wise investment. I would occasionally buy vegetable chips. I have not since I bought the dehydrator. They don’t compare to the taste/nutrition of my homemade goodies.

That all looks/sounds really good. I’ve been thinking about buying a dehydrator forever. Might actually do it one day.

Food dehydrators are great. Also, I love the banana cookies. I make a spead from my carrot juice pulp with tofu and seaweed. Yum. I’ll have to try the banana blend, though. Kamryn will love it I’m sure.

I notice many of you thinking about dehydrators. There are several brands/models available. Some are square and some are round. On the square ones, usually the fan is in the back so that the airflow flows evenly across all the trays. In the round designs, the fan can be at the top or the bottom and force the air down or up. On some of the bottom-fan units, the fan can get dripped on, so it’s probably better to use a top-fan model. Whichever model you choose, it should have an adjustable thermostat because if you use a heat setting that is too high, you will kill all the enzymes. They say that enzymes begin to be destroyed above 170 degrees F. Good luck!

The banana cookies sound healthy and must taste good if you were able to get a kid to eat them and ask for more!
