Our Daily Bread

Posted on August 31st, 2005 in Human Rights by Vegan Momma

Our Day of Caring opportunites are scheduled at least four times during the Campaign months at my job. I will be volunteering at Our Daily Bread tomorrow.
I have been asked to take pictures. They will be posted our website. It is mandatory that all staff attend at least one. I did not know they were mandatory until today. I do think that it makes sense. It we are working of an organizatin that actively helps those in need it makes sense to employ those who actively volunteer within the communities.

I am really excited about tomorrow! I will be there from 9:00 – 1:00. Of course, I will make sure I dress comfortably. :-)

I work for a non-profit organization 37% of the American Red Cross funding comes from our Organization. They use 48% of those funds for disaster relief.

Yesterday, a top official form the American Red Cross came to give us an update about Disaster relief int he areas affected by Katrina. I took plenty of pictures at the meeting. Our company president spoke yesterday, and this morning, at an all staff meeting in regards to this travesty.

By the end of the week there will be about 1,000 volunteers going down to assist from the Maryland area. If I were truly single I would be headed out there to help. I am still thinking of going for four days.
