Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl

I have been meaning to post the link to the book Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriett Jacobs. The Ordinary Momma came to mind when I came across this since she had blogged about reading books about civil rights/ and slavery to her children. I thought that was impressive. The History books definitely leave a lot out.

Thinking back

When I looked in the deep freezer a few minutes ago. I saw some frozen breastmilk. That definitely brings back the memories of my breastpumping days. It was tough in the beginning but definitely worth it since I had no choice but to work out of the home. Here is a link to breastpumping and here is the information for their yahoo group. This receives a lot of traffic. I received the daily digest to my email. I am thankful for that group as well as the online online La Leche League meetings and chats. I am a proud member of La Leache League.

Subject: THIS NEEDS WIDE DISTRIBUTION

Don’t know whether you heard about this but Denzel Washington and his
family visited the troups at Brook Army Medical Center, in San
Antonio,Texas  (BAMC)  the other day. This is where soldiers that have
been evacuated from Germany come to be hospitalized in the States,
especially burn victims.

I know I am stubborn

You know I rarely listen to my own advice when it comes to taking a break. Yes, I am still working. I know, I know I said I would stop after this past weekend but of course that did not happen.  I most likely will continue to working until Wednesday. These past few weeks have been nonstop busy. Iam usually busy but yeah I have been over the top with work recently. I am up early and usually have not gone to bed until around 2:00, usually 3:00, the next morning. If you have been reading my blog you know I am an early riser. That means I am usually by 5:00 in the morning. I don’t care what time I go to sleep I usually awaken the same time, or an hour later. It’s that internal alarm clock. Ihave not learned how to shut it off yet. Well today I have a sore throat. Your body can only take so much abuse before it lets you know to ease up or else! I did go to bed last evening a little after 8:00. I also juiced a vile/nasty green drink and drank it. It will definitely keep me from getting any worse. I guess I should drink another one of those evil concotions. The drink was made of collards, garlic, ginger. Doesn’t that sound delicious!

I am getting ready to go to the gym and spend a lot of down time in the sauna.
